With the cooler weather coming, we all want to run inside and hide from the cooler weather. But Mississauga has many attractions to help with the winter blues. Winter can be fun and enjoyable it’s just a matter of setting yourself up to believe that, and dressing appropriately for the weather conditions.
Something worth trying is the city’s outdoor skating rinks. They are fun, they are free, and they get you out in the open air. Why not pull out those dusty skates and go out for some fun. This is such a great way to spend some time with the family or friends.
Mississauga has three outdoor skating rinks open to the public; the Woodhurst Heights Park Outdoor Skating Rink, the Burnhamthorpe Community Centre Outdoor Covered Rink, and the Mississauga Celebration Square Ice Rink.
The Celebration Square Ice Rink is Mississauga’s largest outdoor artificial rink open to the public free of charge. It is also one of the largest outdoor skating rinks in the GTA. The rink normally opens in late November and stays open until mid to late March – weather permitting.
For the 2016/2017 winter season, the Celebration Square Ice Rink opened November 19 and is expected to stay open to March 19th, 2017. Public Skate hours are 10:00 am to 10:30 pm, but always check for signs that may indicate otherwise. It is also important to read and follow the Rink Rules for everyone’s safety and enjoyment.
So who not enjoy what the city has to offer, and come out and skate some of those winter blues away.
